But behind the laughter, his estranged niece Mary Trump is sounding a far more chilling alarm. As a psychologist who watched her grandfather descend into dementia and Alzheimer’s, she says Trump’s sudden obsession with fuller, stylized hai  Mary Trump isn’t laughing at the memes because she’s seen this movie before. She watched her grandfather, Fred Trump Sr., slide into dementia and later Alzheimer’s, and she remembers how his fixation on his appearance intensified as his mind declined. The hair dye left on too long, the magenta mustache, the ill‑fitting toupee   he suddenly “needed” after a lifetime of insecurity about his receding hairline — all of it became a visible marker of an invisible unraveling.

Now, seeing her uncle appear in Las Vegas with strangely fuller, carefully coiffed hair, she’s less interested in whether it’s a wig or a weave than in what it might signal. To Mary, the echoes are unmistakable  the same fragile vanity, the same desperate attempt to rewrite the image in the mirror. The jokes may be cheap and easy, but she’s warning that what’s happening on Donald Trump’s head could be a symptom of something far more serious happening in his mind.
